Moving to NYC and eventually abroad to Amsterdam changed everything.
In 2011 at the age of 23, I left LA and moved to NYC to start my professional life and discover more about myself. In 2017, I left the US and moved to Amsterdam.
Like many folks, I regularly went out with coworkers to the newest bar or restaurant. But while I was enjoying my social life, I felt like I was ignoring my own passions. I was afraid to go out by myself - becoming dependent on others to have a good time.
The more I let others dictate my sense of discovery, the more empty and meaningless all the going out felt. The more I asked myself, "Why didn't I do that thing I love?" I realized I had to reach deep inside for the answers. I felt terrified and anxious.
Fortunately, I leaned into my fears. I booked events I was curious about; enjoyed my interests with no expectations; slowly honed the craft of going out solo; and experimented with a variety of spaces, scenarios, and scenes.
Fast forward to 2023, I launched Niche Night Out, a curated evening concept filled with art, music and culture, to help others connect with themselves, each other, and unique spaces in their city. We've grown to over 800+ followers, forged countless new friendships, and become a trusted social resource for the busy young professional in Amsterdam.
More importantly, I’ve changed for the better. I've learned how folks are seeking more social confidence and ways to grow their own independent social life and I'm excited to help others develop their own.
